The Dire Straits shoots the strait from Ceti Daenia to Zerzi, has a failure in the in-system drive’s power coil regulator. It takes a week to limp to Zerzi Station with Jithal manually regulating the in-system drive’s power to avoid a runaway power cycle causing the ship to explode.

The Dire Straits approached Cuthbert Station on a charter to deliver a single passenger, Dohpak Vito there and back, no questions asked. They soon discovered several things that were unexpected.

The strange aliens’ surviving ship, the star-fighter and a shuttle met up and were lost to sensors when they turned on their stealth systems. Jithal managed to track them with Grulvax sensors he had installed on the Dire Straits, and the crew noted they were heading into an empty part of space.

While on the slow path back to Zerzi, Jim Dade and Dohpaz Vito discuss things. Jim learns that Dohpaz Vito thinks that the contents of the case that he acquired on Cuthbert Station from the small frog-like alien would be a game changer in the market of astronautics, and allow him to start selling to the Zerzi military, bringing his business up to the next level. Dohpaz Vito learns that Jim Dade does not act like other vat clones.

Jim Dade gets Delano Mack to keep station outside of Zerzi’s planetary sensors so they could rendezvous there with the Dire Straits, and they can be sure that the ZSN didn’t take over the ship without revealing where the research complex was. He also wanted an opportunity to surprise Delano Mack and Dohpaz Vito to get real information out of them.

After the Jitterbug and the Dire Straits rendezvoused outside the sensor range of Zerzi planet’s defence network, Captain Delano Mack left in the Jitterbug on his way to Cuthbert Station as he agreed to during the rendezvous.

The Dire Straits was heading out from Zerzi Station toward Cuthbert, a 4 hour journey. Their Tatternet feed included a new story, Destroyed Ship Siouxiana Discovered in Golden Seed.

The crew of the Dire Straits, Delano Mack, the survivors of the pirate attack of the Siouxiana, including Elizabeth Catlow, tried to run the gauntlet of Ramekin Finch’s pirates, the Finchmen, through the Concourse of her pirate base. They made it as far as the cargo airlock leading to the ships bay and the ships bay control room, although Steve Irwin and the seriously injured Chris were separated from the rest of the crew during the attack of Ramekin Finch’s Mogri pet, an enormous jumping spider with a roar like a lion.

The crew defeated Pirate Queen Ramekin Finch, for now, and escaped from her asteroid base, rescuing the survivors of the Siouxiana. The Dire Straits with Chrysalis and the Jitterbug attached ferry the survivors of the Siouxiana to Zerzi Station. Before they reach the station's sensor envelope, Delano Mack undocks the Jitterbug from the Dire Straits to make his way separately to the station. Once the Dire Straits is docked, the survivors are quickly whisked into the medical wing of Zerzi Station. Delano Mack meets up with the crew near the hospital, but they are separated by a mob of press and paparazzi. Delano Mack and Jim Dade are caught up in the mob. Jim Dade has the data dump from the pirate base, and will deal with that as he can.

The Dire Straits crew finally locates and jumps the new strait point in Zerzi System, finding the unknown hostile species on the other side, and shoot the strait back to Zerzi, under fire!

The Dire Straits delivers a cargo from Dohpaz Vito to a fancy dress shop in the city Alodon in Golden Seed.

During the Dire Strait's transit across Dragongull's Cry, the crew lends a helping hand to a medium sized merchant, the Mass Simulator, captained by Chendi Jalenduran.

The crew of the Dire Straits dumped velocity after shooting the strait from Dragongull’s Cry to Bane’s Eye and scanned the system, and pondered their next moves. Chris parked the Dire Straits in a spot between the orbits of Alreeckt and Carkargar that did not have regular traffic, and they started the first parts of their plans.

Steve, Delano, and Chris set up the media event with the Scouts Guild, and make a deal with Captain Nelarick of the "Lurbon's Grackle".

After catching some sleep and a meal, Steve Irwin needs to head into the bowels of the station to meet with his contact, Thunterperg Brelt, who works as a manager in the Alreekt station Algae Processing Facility number 7a, and is an amateur marine biologist. Thunterperg knows someone who is in the Banesian underground and has arranged for them to meet at her office. Jithal heads over first and scouts out the vents and ducts around the office, looking for a good spot to monitor the situation. After ensuring no one else is using the vents, he settles into a good spot.
